SOOTHING SADNESS
Life is full of tricky times, and ‘Bad things happen to the best of us. The secret is how to deal with them and do so in a way that is helpful. As I’ve said many times before, the body and mind are linked. In times of trauma, it’s important to remember to nurture yourself. Be kind to your body and your mind. Don’t feel pressured to perform in a way that other people think you should; take some quiet time and truly listen to what you need.
Difficult situations can make our heads sore, our bodies tense, and our souls lose faith. Where possible, it’s important to look after each part, each day. Engage in meditation, do some simple stretches, practise yoga, take a walk, run, go for a swim, hit the gym, or do whatever makes you feel energised.
Eat well, lovely colourful nutritious food and keep hydrated. Try not to rely on alcohol, chocolate or caffeine!! It might feel good in the initial moment, but it is quickly followed by a low, which in turn means more alcohol, more chocolate, more caffeine! Don’t forget you can ask for help too, be it family, friends or your ‘God’, whoever that might be. Of course, there is always professional help – all hail those wonderful therapists!
Life traumas are without doubt completely devastating, but ultimately, it is our choice how we react.
With love,
