‘BEING’ IN YOUR BUSINESS
I was discussing the joys and woes of business with a friend this week.
I was advising that whilst it’s important to make plans and provisions for the future it’s really vital to be present. To sit down quietly and acknowledge and appreciate everything achieved to date. How that business looks today, who it serves, who it supports and what it brings both emotionally and financially. Sometimes we get so busy planning, pushing forward, doing the job, that we forget to take stock. To truly appreciate what we’ve created, to feel proud and to allow ourselves time to absorb how we feel about the business.
As I was giving this advise I realised this was true for me too, both in my previous and current business. I often find that in giving advise to others, I’m giving it to myself, and thankfully, my ears are now open to listen.
So today I’m noticing how far I’ve come. I’m allowing the progress of my students to sink in, I’m accepting their praise (remembering praise is just as important for the giver as the receiver) and I’m allowing myself to feel fulfilled and happy. I’m thankful for the opportunities that have presented themselves this year and how they’ve helped me grow. I feel empowered to place a value on my knowledge.
The same principles apply to employment, it’s realising how your work is a part of you and really allowing yourself to connect with your achievements.
So today, please do take a moment to go quiet and understand and experience the true value of your business or job … and if no one else is doing this for you, give yourself a huge pat on the back.
With love,
Glynnis x
Ps. Now … it might be that the business is abundant or it may be a lean time. You may adore your job, or you may really feel underwhelmed by it. If the latter is the case, this act of being present will allow you the space to notice what is failing and what you can change. Remembering that change is incredibly difficult but when you break everything down, change is a choice.
