FOOTBALL CRAZY, FOOTBALL MAD

I love football, and although I embrace watching my son, Frankie, play, I am married to a more than avid Man United fan and come from a family of football supporters. (I spent many a school holiday watching Bolton Wanderers players at their training ground).

So, with possibly the biggest match of the season being played today, Frankie being lucky enough to be there to watch it live. I decided to take some time out and hit the pool. Swim practice over, I nipped into the steam room to relax my body and take the chance to squeeze in a quick meditation. Bringing my attention to my chakras* I was easily able to focus. The couple in the corner were respectfully enjoying a whispered conversation. Although aware of them, I was able to mentally acknowledge they were there, but still keep focus…
Until I heard ‘the odds are that Man U will score at home, I think Leicester will do it, I’m sure the cup will be at Old Trafford…just in case’ Aaargh – my focus had gone, and despite myself I’d tuned into their conversation. I began to think about Leicester and what winning today would mean to the club, players, supporters and the game in general. Being a sucker for the underdog, I began to get excited for them. This is what football is all about, not giant wage packets and inflated egos, but dedication, skill, the willingness to be a part of a team and the belief you can be the best.
If you think and believe in your dream enough, it will become your reality.

So I jumped up, showered, hopped in the car and drove home to source a venue where we could watch ‘The Beautiful Game’

‘Come on Leicester! ‘

With love,
