5 HELPFUL TIPS FOR LIST WRITING

I am a list writer. In the past, this proved to be a rather destructive task. I wouldn’t be happy until I’d finished ‘my list’. Even if I was feeling drained, exhausted, practically on my knees, I’d have to complete every task. This unhelpful behavioural pattern was a contributing factor to the onset of ME.
I gradually recognised this, and by changing my thought patterns and creating new neural pathways, I was able to remove the pressure and expectation I placed on myself. I still write lists, but in a more helpful and fluid way. I remember it’s ok to allow the jobs to flow over to the next day … or sometimes it’s actually ok if the job doesn’t get completed at all… deep breaths!
So… now I’m in a place of helping others, and if you’re a destructive list writer, my advice to you when you have your pen poised is
1. Be realistic

2. Spread your list over a few days

3. Do the hard jobs first

4. Schedule in tea/snack breaks

5. Place Meditation at the TOP – self-care is the most important task, and the benefits you experience will be tenfold.
