PUBLIC SPEAKING, WHO’D HAVE THOUGHT IT!

The seasons have well and truly changed, and all the recent heavy rain is bringing fresh energy. I’m taking a moment in this blog to recognise this shift. I always tell students, notice how far you’ve come and give yourself a pat on the back. So today I’m being guided by my own words.

Last week I did my first ever talk at a well-being event. I surprised myself that I didn’t feel any nerves until the day before, and even then, I found them to be manageable. Big proof to me that my mindfulness practice of living in the moment is really working.

I was well prepared; a few nerves crept in on the morning of the event, but a sneaky outdoor meditation managed to sweep them away nicely. The talk went well, I felt relaxed, happy and composed. I truly believe that when you’re speaking from the heart and being authentic, the rest will follow. The lovely ladies in the audience were attentive and responsive, and for that I’m so grateful. It brought to mind how far I’ve come. During my illness, I lost all my confidence and found it difficult to socialise.

Look at me now – public speaking – who’d have thought it !!

So today, I’m patting myself on the back!

I hope this blog serves as an inspiration to others. If I can change, so can you. Go quiet, listen to your heart, be authentic, and the rest will follow. If you can’t quite manage a pat on the back today, don’t worry. I’m sending you one, along with a gentle nudge to accept where you are in life right now and then ‘be the change you want to see’.

With love,

Glynnis x
