PUTTING YOURSELF FIRST

When you try to improve your life, create new neural pathways and be the best version of you, it can be a difficult, lifelong process. Always experiencing hiccups but sometimes preciously experiencing true light bulb moments.

I recently had a light bulb moment. During a meditation that I was guiding, I asked ‘What aspects of your job are you grateful for?’ My first thought for myself was that it allowed me to look after myself – in that moment – I recognised a shift, a realisation, I felt my eyes well with tears and the fact that that was my first thought, really showed me that I’d finally allowed myself to look after me. To put myself first and feel no guilt.

I didn’t feel the outside pressure to think. I’m grateful I can help others; of course, I am grateful for this, but it wasn’t my first thought. For a girl who would rush through the door, cook the dinner with her coat on whilst desperately needing a pee, this is a major breakthrough … that poor girl!
I’m living my life in a different way. Whilst practising meditation, your inner self is able to speak. I’m so grateful that now my inner self matches what’s happening on the outside. I’ve totally got it, I’m able to be helpful and kind to myself, and in doing so I can be helpful and kind to others… with no detriment to my wellbeing.

So today, sit quietly and ask yourself this question.

Am I looking after me?

With love,
