RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
In the lead up to Christmas and the busyness that this brings, we’re taking a moment to look past the mince pies, Prosecco and presents and in class we’re concentrating on kindness. Kindness for ourselves and kindness for others. We are particularly good at this time of year in sharing and being kind to the people we know, but what about those strangers we don’t know?
So today I’m offering myself and all of you this challenge.
Can we carry out random acts of kindness for random people?
How would that feel to you? How would it feel for them? Can we do something without a reward? How would that feel? These acts can be small gestures, like offering your car parking space to a fellow shopper, when at this time of year they’re like gold dust. (Much hilarity and shrieks in class when I mentioned this !) or …sweeping up a neighbour’s leaves, or… offering a small token of your appreciation to a shop worker who has patiently served you all year. It’s their job, you might think, but hey! It’s lovely to feel valued.
Use your imagination, get creative and notice how it feels when you offer these acts of kindness. Remember to move gently through this festive season with kindness in the forefront of your mind. You’ll probably never know what impact your kindness has on others, but you’ll certainly be able to recognise how good it makes you feel. The universe works in wonderful ways, so you might even begin to experience random kindness delivered to you! …Enjoy!
With love,
