THIS DAY

I knew our world was broken I knew our world was sad.

I knew we didn’t appreciate the planet that we had.

I knew our lives were busy we really had no time.

To stop and smell the roses, to care for all mankind.

Bigger, better, more, is where we be seemed to be.

Not a thought for others, no time to be carefree.

We couldn’t see the problems, we made no choice to stop.

Our world was crying and we didn’t give a jot.

Today we have our moment it’s completely in our hands.

This time we have been given to make new brighter plans.

So when all this is over and outdoors we can go.

Be glad of all the things that we couldn’t see before.

A tree that stood forever.

An ocean that needs our help.

The sun that always rises. 

Concern for the earth heartfelt.

We’ll hold our loved ones closer.

Our friends with time we’ll share.

We’ll invest in our community.

Helping others because we care.

We’ll educate our children.

In the art of ‘being me’.

To have a social conscience. 

To set anxiety free.

Then if in time, to old ways we fade. 

Remember this day and our plans that we made. 

To love one another and care for the earth. 

To live life fully for all it is worth.
